📖 How to use Tesselize
Step 1 — Load an image
Click Choose file to upload a photo, or click Load demo image to try the maple leaf. Best results come from subjects with clean, simple outlines and a plain background.
Step 2 — Select your subject
Click Auto-detect objects (server), then click the yellow box around your subject to segment it. Use Add / Erase / Wand to refine the selection. Important: erase any background clutter (fences, shadows, ground) — artifacts cause the tessellation to fail.
Step 3 — Extract the tile
Click 2) Confirm selection → Extract. The subject appears in the tile panel. Use Fit to silhouette to crop tightly, then Edit tile (erase obstructions) to remove any remaining artifacts like fence posts.
Step 4 — Analyze symmetry
Click Analyze Symmetry. The app recommends a tessellation type. Click Use This Type, or pick one manually.
Step 5 — Choose a tiling pattern
In the left panel, choose Simple Repeat, Mirror Left/Right, Mirror Top/Bottom, or Rotate 180°. The pattern preview updates on the right.
Step 6 — Warp to fit curves
Click Warp Shape to Fit Curves! This clips your shape to an interlocking boundary so copies lock together with no gaps. If the tile disappears, your image has artifacts — go back to Step 3 and erase them.
Step 7 — Export
Use the Scale slider to resize. Click Download pattern PNG to save.
